Sharon Rues is the founder of SGR Advisory and a contrarian voice on what actually limits owner-led companies. Her premise is unpopular. If the business runs on the owner, it cannot run without them. The owner is usually the most valuable asset and the single biggest risk, and that risk goes unaddressed until it caps growth, stalls a sale, or draws a key-person discount.

After 25 years of people leadership across Fortune 500 companies and venture-backed startups, including serving as chief people officer for a former Nebraska governor and leading the largest state agency merger in Nebraska history, Sharon built SGR Advisory to take that risk off the table. The work starts with the leader. A founder and owner leadership diagnostic builds self-awareness, then carries through the coaching, organizational design, and leadership development it surfaces. The owner is the client; fractional executives and business consultants already inside the business are most often the front door.

Her position is simple. A business does not have to depend on one person to run, scale, or sell. Someone just has to start with the leader.
