About
Sandy Marie Matthews is a God-fearing woman, ordained minister, author, philanthropist, entrepreneur and global strategist. Her ministry-rooted in hope-focuses on advocating for women's equality, food security, disaster relief, scholarships, and economic empowerment.
A survivor of domestic violence, Pastor Sandy turned her pain into purpose by founding Survivor's Journey to Peace, a global nonprofit and NGO based in Accra, Ghana supporting survivors of domestic sexual abuse and human trafficking to restore, rebuild, and transform their lives.
In 2023, she expanded her mission with Sandy Smith Ministries, offering a safe shelter, entrepreneurial training for women and youth in Kumasi.
Sandy is also committed to sustainable development, she owns and operates a farm in Ghana that provides food security and promotes women empowerment through agriculture and entrepreneurship (agrientrepreneurship).
Sandy is also the founder of Sandy Smith Travel Inc., a travel company specializing in transformational journeys to Ghana, where travel becomes a vehicle for healing, cultural connection, and spiritual growth.
She is the Youth Pastor at All Nations Ministry in Kumasi, Ghana. Certified John Maxwell speaker, trainer, and coach and holds a Bachelor's in Business Management (Cardinal Stritch University), an Associate in Theology (Midwest Bible College), and an Associate in Travel & Tourism (Milwaukee College of Business).
Sandy also serves as a Chaplain with the Salvation Army and is a proud member of NAWBO, U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce, and Wisconsin Department of Children & Families Division of Family and Economic Security's Domestic Violence Task Force.
Her work has earned multiple honors, including the 2021 Pinnacle Award. Her tireless efforts have been recognized through citations from both The State of Wisconsin and Milwaukee County, honoring her invaluable contributions to uplifting underrepresented individuals, cover girl for Women in Dignity Magazine (October 2024).
Of all her accomplishments, Sandy is most proud to be a wife to Dr. Thomas Matthews, Mother, and Grandmother, continuing to live out her purpose with passion, grace, and faith.
