About
Dr. MJ Yang is a licensed clinical psychologist, entrepreneur, and feminist dedicated to empowering women through psychological healing and personal transformation. She is the founder of Inner Journey Psychology, Inc., where she helps high-achieving professionals, immigrants, and entrepreneurs navigate identity, career transitions, leadership challenges, and intergenerational trauma.
Her journey as a healer began in 2003 when she worked as a paraprofessional counselor for youth at Teacher Chang, Taiwan’s largest community counseling center. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from National Taiwan University, graduating magna cum laude in both programs. After becoming a licensed clinical psychologist in Taiwan in 2009, she spent six years as a clinician and supervisor at National Taiwan University Hospital. Seeking to expand her expertise and challenge patriarchal norms embedded in mental health, she moved to the U.S. to earn her Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at John F. Kennedy University.
Her clinical training spans schools, hospitals, community mental health centers, and primary care settings. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at California Pacific Medical Center’s Psychiatry Department and Kalmanovitz Child Development Center in San Francisco, CA, followed by a postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department in Santa Clara, CA.
n 2021, Dr. Yang obtained her California license and began her journey as an independent practitioner. She started her private practice in 2022 and, in 2024, founded Inner Journey Psychology, Inc., fulfilling her American dream of creating a space where women—especially immigrants and entrepreneurs—can reclaim their power, voice, and agency. As a feminist psychologist, Dr. Yang challenges societal expectations placed on women, helping clients break free from limiting beliefs, redefine success on their own terms, and cultivate relationships and careers rooted in self-worth and autonomy.
