I started PSHS while working for Federal OSHA out of there realization that small business did not know about regulatory requirements to keep their staff safety or even about OSHA. They started a business and went about doing work without implementing safe guards for their workers. Unlike with local licensing agency when forming a business you learn about permit requirements but information is given about Occupational Safety & Health Standards. The big firm knew of the requirements and had dedicated safety managers as part of their business. They would negotiate with the agencies if fined but small firms were completely unaware and were saddle with large fine and some worker suffered serious injuries or died on the job. They didnt know what they didnt know. I thought that I could solve the problem by providing a-la-cart safety management and consulting services. I discovered there were were few small companies that saw the value or were interested. I saw there was opportunity to leverage my knowledge in the large safety market and provide third party safety management services as some contracts required and to fill in for shortages. |
