Pennie is the founder of Pennie Carrol and Associates, a top real estate company serving Central Iowa. Pennie co-hosts "Moving lowa", a popular radio program on WHO Radio. Pennie is a passionate networker, connector and ambassador for integrating faith into your workplace. 

BACKGROUND 

I was born in South Dakota and raised on a farm. We even had a pet cow named Suzie, although she was NOT house trained! Eventually my Dad decided he didn't like farming so my family moved to Urbandale. My parents were entrepreneurs and as I observed them work hard every day, that ethic became ingrained in me. Watching how they took care of their customers was a model for how I would become successful in Real Estate. I attended high school at Grand View Christian School in Des Moines and then traveled a year before marrying my husband of 37 years. After a short career at Pepsi, I stayed home to raise our three kids while working part-time cleaning houses. It was while cleaning those large, beautiful homes that I had an idea. What if I actually sold these homes instead of cleaning them? 

After earning a real estate license in 2003, I started selling houses. At the time, I wasn't sure if anyone would ever buy from me! Ten years later, I was selling 20 houses a month! I needed help! I reached out to my youngest son to see if he would be interested in joining my one-woman firm. Soon after, my oldest son and husband jumped on board and it became a Carroll family business, minus my daughter who is happy as a high school Spanish teacher. A now valued assistant was also hired to help us manage all the administrative tasks that go along with buying and selling a home. 

We had grown so much by 2017 that I knew we needed to open a Brokerage. Although I intended to keep it a family run business, we grew so rapidly that additional agents and administrative staff became necessary. In 2020 we moved into a charming 1918 renovated brick cottage at 3232 Hubbell Avenue in order to accommodate the growing PCA staff! This past year, the 22-person PCA Brokerage served more than 300 families. PCA is dedicated to providing responsive service, extensive knowledge of the real estate market and the tools to make buying and selling a home easier and more enjoyable. Outside of buying, selling and investing in Real Estate, the PCA Real Estate Team enjoys engaging with the community by supporting local charities, schools & hosting fun events throughout the year. We are always looking for ways to better serve people in the Real Estate business by training, resourcing, mentoring and encouraging young Realtors and by building solid relationships with local businesses.

Interestingly when I was young, I was unsure what I wanted to be. However, I DID KNOW that I wanted to have 12 kids, own a retail business and, funny enough, wait tables! :-) Fast forward to the present, I have to say it is incredibly rewarding to be part of a client's journey into a new home. Over the last 20+ years, I have helped clients purchase their first home, second home and even their final home as their lives grow and change. And now, as a Real Estate Broker, watching the growth and success of the PCA agents on my team is also very fulfilling. 

My husband and I reside in Runnells, lowa on a 40+ acreage and are fortunate to have our adult children and their spouses nearby. Our three grandsons bring us the most joy in this stage of life and now I am excited to say that we have two more on the way!
