About
Heather Burns is a program manager at heart, passionately curious, has decades of experience in digital accessibility, spending many of her 20 years leading programs at Microsoft in accessibility. In addition to her self-proclaimed nerd background, Heather has her CPWA (WAS and CPACC) from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, DHS Trusted Tester v5 certification from the Department of Homeland Security, and serves as a digital accessibility instructor, teaching people with disabilities who are reliant on assistive technology how to test and report against WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines. Since graduating from Cornell University with her bachelor’s in computer science, Heather has become a powerful advocate for disability inclusion and diversity, but after she’s done hitting the keyboard all day, she hits the streets as a long-distance runner.
