NAWBO Talks Women in Business With Egyptian Professionals
|
Members of NAWBO Greater DC met with five Egyptian professionals—many of them high-level businesswomen working in the banking and financial sector—who wanted to gain an understanding of challenges faced by U.S. women in business as well as access tools and solutions they can apply in their own country. These women were in the U.S. to participate in the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program.

Businesses Owned by Black Women Leave a Growing Imprint
|
The pandemic was a catalyst for substantial growth in women-owned businesses, but none more so than those led by Black and African American women, a recent Wells Fargo report shows. Between 2019 and 2023, Black/African American women-owned businesses grew their revenue by 49.6%, compared to 26.2% for women-owned businesses overall and 23.9% for Black/African American men-owned businesses.

Submit Video to Sporty Women Around the World Campaign
|
2GAP and FCEM are launching a sporty women around the world campaign, Impact 2024, celebrating the fact that the 2024 Olympics will be the first in history to have an equal number of male and female participants. As part of this, they are collecting videos from sporty women and girls to be shared on March 8th on the campaign website and on social media.

Join the NAWBO National Advocacy Committee to discuss and give feedback on NAWBO’s draft of a microbusiness definition to be utilized by the federal government to increase access to capital and procurement for our nation’s microbusiness owners.
February: Review a Draft Outline of the Definition created after January Listening Session March: Review a Draft Text of the Definition for Comment April: Fine tune our Final Definition May: Release NAWBO’s microbusiness definition that we will be taking to Capitol Hill for NAWBO Days!
Also, get a regional advocacy update each month this winter and spring. We heard from the Northeast Region in January. We’ll hear from the Midwest Region in February, the Southern Region in March, the Western Region in April and the Western/California Region in May.
